Acclaimed Dance & Portrait photographer, Brian Mengini, operates a studio in downtown Phoenixville.

I look at my role in photography as capturing moments and various memories that will otherwise slip away… While sharing an image with a parent bringing mom or dad to tears because I captured a moment or captured the true nature of their child, I know I have done my job. Memories are so important to keep hold of; that is why I am so passionate about photography. These images that I create are really timestamps of a period in someone’s amazing journey. There are timeless and let you recount your life!

I try to instill and practice the same philosophy with my own family! A married father of two, I look at one of my most important roles as creating memories, especially for my kids! I want to create those timestamps for them so 20 years, 30 years from now when they are grown, they can sit their kids down and share stories and images of their childhood.

I am a member of such professional organizations as WWPI and PPA. My work has been published in various periodicals and other publications including Dance Magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia City Paper and the recent book, “When Men Dance – Choreographing Masculinities Across Borders.”

My career in photography is truly a blessing to me. Not only am I able to touch and enter the lives of so many wonderful people, but it also allows me to be even more involved in the lives of my own family – something I cherish! With the blessings and good fortune I feel have been bestowed on me, I feel it essential for me to give back and do so with my craft. I regularly volunteer with various Autism & SPD organizations and am an affiliate photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, providing bereavement photography for families across the country.

In my spare time (insert laughter here), my wife and I have founded The DominicsDreams Foundation, a non profit organization with a mission to create education and awareness for Sensory Processing Disorder, a neurological disorder that affects 1 out of every 20 children, like my son Dominic who was diagnosed with it in February of 2005. I am also involved with the AOH in Montgomery County where I am the Publicity Chairperson for AOH - Officer Jack Duffy Division #6, Montgomery Co. PA. I also sit on the AOH Montgomery County Board as the Missions & Charities Chairperson.
